Here’s another sketch that I worked on this week. I painted the leaf with watercolor and then added colored pencil on top.
The colors are a bit off in this photo, a little more green to the leaf. I still think I need to improve the blending of colored pencils to get the right effect. I think the next one like this I will try on smoother paper to see if that makes a difference.

I love the colour mixing and the depth you created. You can see the leaf is off the surface in places, maybe you could exaggerate that a little more on the left half of the leaf (but it is probably the photo that is making it appear lighter).
Have you tried water colour pencils?
Thanks Antje! The colors aren’t true in the photo. The camera doesn’t seem to take the layers of color correctly. Yes, I have several different kinds of watercolor, pencils, crayons etc.
