I have continued working in my sketchbook on a nearly daily basis. I have been averaging at least 5 days a week and I’ve been trying different techniques. I have also been sketching the same plants at different stages in spring growth. That has been fun. Here are a few:
The very colorful pine cone was inspired by Teri’s post here. The stool at the ortho office was because hubby broke his right arm. Sigh… Now I am care giving and doing double duty of chores. But he didn’t need surgery and it’s beginning to heal so I just keep going and try to be positive.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Rotten luck for hubby having a broken arm – hope it heals very soon.
Your sketches are wonderful and the shadowing under the salvia lifts it right off the page.
Thanks Lyn, he is slowly getting better, but I appreciate your encouragement. I agree that the shadows help, I get lazy and don’t always add them.
Great sketches Ruth and good for you keeping up your sketchbook practice, I know how hard that can be when life and broken arms get in the way. It’s funny, out of all of the pictures your pinecone grabbed my attention first, even before I had read your text, the colours really resonate with me but I also adore the flower (clematis) to its right too 🙂
Thanks Teri, Glad you like the pine cone. It was definitely out of my normal style. I think the clematis stands out because of the background. I don’t usually add those in.
So sorry to hear about hubby – hope his arm heals soon. But well done on managing to keep sketching despite all the extra chores!
Thanks Kim, he is healing slowly. It only takes about 15-30 minutes so I am determined to keep practicing.
Lovely sketches. Sorry to hear about hubby, I hope he heals soon.
Thanks Marilyn! He is gradually feeling better.
