All of these pieces are framed and have a base of nuno felt and then a variety of techniques.
I have been busy with my classwork but I have finished all of that work now. We will be having an exhibition at the Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Art Museum beginning February 25 through May 31st. I will update you with more information soon.
Lots of people asked to see my recent landscapes once they had been framed. I get my work professionally framed with a narrow, black wooden frame. I have been working on getting new gallery representation and contacted a couple of places. I heard back from Northwest Handmade in Sandpoint, ID. I took 16 pieces over to them and will be taking them some snow dyed silk scarves when we go back by there in July. Yay, happy dance.
I decided to make a few more 5″ x 7″ pieces to take with me but didn’t get a chance to show them here. These are included in the 16 pieces that went to Sandpoint. If you happen to be in the area, please stop by and visit Northwest Handmade!
The five framed pieces shown at the top of the post weren’t ready when I went to Sandpoint. I picked them up from the framers and the next day, I heard back from 4 Ravens Gallery in Missoula, MT. They were interested in carrying my work too! Wow! Those five landscapes will be on display towards the end of June. It is great to have two galleries carrying my artwork but now I have to get busy and make some new pieces to replace any that sell. (I’m being hopeful and thinking positively.)
I took a trip to Bigfork today to drop off some new work for the Christmas season.
I created three new smaller pieces (5″ x 7″) since those seem to sell quickly. This one is called Summer Dreams.
This one is Solitude.
And the last one is Autumn Dreams.
I also took this much larger one (18″ x 24″) called Overlook.
This water lily piece that is called Tranquility (12″ x 12″).
And this piece which is called The Trail of the Cedars (18.5″ x 15.25″).

I have still been stitching away on the felt applique hand stitch project.
Here is where I was last week.
Now I have appliqued down all the felt pieces and all I have left is to couch down the dark maroon yarn. I am going to use a thin thread in the same color to do this as I don’t think I need to add much more “detail” in the thicker, brighter color threads. I don’t want it to feel too chaotic.
Here’s a close up. I used a variety of stitches to applique down the smaller felt centers of flowers. Once I finish the couching, I will need to decide how I am going to finish this. The felt background is pretty soft so I think I need to stretch it around a board or canvas. I do think a nice border might be nice but I’m not sure how I would stitch that on without it ending up really irregular and wavy.

I have had this piece floating around the studio for a while. I need to get the studio cleaned out so I need to do something with this piece.
It is a piece of silk screened felt which I added some stitching around the circles. It didn’t feel finished and it’s just been languishing.
My first thought was to add some stitched spirals to the background. I used a drawing tool in Photoshop to give the basic idea of the spirals. The threads would be similar colors to the ones I have already used. I even started this but I didn’t have a good way to transfer the spiral design on to the felt. So I stopped on this idea.
Then I saw something on Facebook that made me think I should try adding more felt circles and leaves and applique these pieces down. So I tried this layout. It certainly is more lively and does feel more finished with this design. I would use fairly large thread to match the thread I have already used to applique the pieces down. What do you think? Too much?
