I’m continuing to work on tree studies. Here’s an aspen leaf in colored pencils.
After comparing to the photo below, I see that I still haven’t gotten it dark enough but I think I am going to leave it the way it is.

Nice! I was having trouble with my green leaf too. Not enough green colors in my pencil stash. Is yours in felt??
Thanks Tesi, you have to layer a bunch of different colors of colored pencil when you don’t have enough greens. Which part are you asking is felt? The top photo is colored pencil and the bottom photo on the left is one of the samples I made in class with molding paste mixed with paint on black paper.
I was asking about the top one. The texture looked different to me than pencil on paper. Love your shadows! Colleen Wise does some cool stuff with shadows in her art quilts.

I like the colors you have. Sometimes it’s betternthan trying to copy nature. 😉
