Here is my piece for the August TIF challenge. I had many thoughts about this one but I wasn’t happy with any of my ideas. Then, when I was eating out at a restaurant on their patio, I looked over and there was this branch. And I thought – now that is balance. So this is the piece I made. I could tell you that each leaf represents a part of my life and some are given more importance than others blah, blah, blah… But, really I didn’t go through all that. I think that nature can show us so much and balance is one of those things. I embellished the background on recycled felted sweater and then painted a heavy interfacing for the leaves. The branch is machine stitched cord couched down by hand. The stems are embroidery floss couched down by hand. I painted the veins on the leaves.
Here are a couple of close ups.
So now I’m off to the NW Montana Fair – we usher at the rodeo. Whoopee!
This is wonderful – I am a leaf lover, myself. I have gone out walking just to observe them and their forms and how they hang on a branch – and I agree about their balance!
How lovely! The simplicity and the colors are wonderful. This month’s topic has meant nothing to me, so it’s interesting to see such a beautiful piece.
I agree with the others – i love the colours, the felted background, the leaves, the composition – its a lovely piece.
Lovely. I love the felted background and the bright green of the leaves. Like a walk in the woods.
Your piece says tranquility to me.. Very nice
Beautiful piece! The composition is perfect! Enjoy the Rodeo 🙂
I love trees, and this piece really speaks to me. Blue and green are two favorite colors as well.
Wow, those leaves are real! The background reaully is perfect in my humble opinion. You’re inspiring! http://miekenoor.web-log.nl
