Lino Cut Stamps

Still working away on my next online class so I made a few smaller stamps (about 2″ diameter). I started with a geometric one that I forgot to get a photo of because I didn’t really like it all that much. Then I made one that looked more like a dandelion seed head. That got me going on seed pods so I made a different one.

Pod Stamps

Here are the stamps with their prints on paper. I think I will make a few more of these seed related ones.

Pod Stamps on Felt

Here I tested them out on a scrap piece of felt. I printed these with screen printing ink instead of thickened dye since I didn’t have time to get that all set up. I also worked today on some free motion machine stitching on felt which I will post about on Sunday over at The Felting and Fiber Studio.

Level 1 Experimental Machine Stitch Class in Montana

The deadline for signing up for the Level 1 Experimental Machine Stitch with Gail Harker is March 25th. We need more students to sign up for the class to run and I hope you’ll consider it if you’re in the area. I would also appreciate it if you would spread the word to anyone who might be interested.

Automatic Machine Stitching

You can sign up for the class here.

Fiber Exchange and Level I Experimental Machine Stitch

It’s a great class and you will learn so much about your sewing machine and how to use it effectively. All the samples here are ones I made in that course plus lots more.

I really enjoyed the class and I hope you will sign up! I’d love to meet you there 🙂

Gail Harker Teaching in Montana

Gail Harker will be coming to Kalispell, Montana to teach a Level 1 Experimental Hand Stitch course June 24-28.

Gail Harker Poster

If you are closer to Montana then you are to La Conner, Washington, then it’s a wonderful opportunity to take one of Gail’s courses. I have no affiliation except that I have taken many of her courses and I always learn so much as she is an excellent teacher. I will be assisting Gail with this course and we’d love to have you. Just give Gail’s center a call to register.

Working on More Class Samples

I have been working on my online paper fabric lamination class samples and writing up the instructions today.

Stencils for Paper Fabric Lamination

I used the stencils that I showed you in my last post.

Paper Laminated to Fabric

And paper that I painted last night.

Poinsettias in Paper Fabric Lamination

Hopefully one of these small ones will turn into a lovely felted postcard for a holiday postcard exchange that we’re having on the forum. Hope you have a good weekend.

Another Color Notebook

I worked all day Friday on finishing my homework for my color class. The second notebook is a larger size and includes all the color wheels, scales and other color exercises.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAI got about half of the pages completed. Right now, I have all the pages separated from the notebook until I have all the page placement figured out.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAHere you can see the stack of pages that I finished. I have at least that many more to go.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThis is one of my colors wheels done with three primary colors of paint.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThis photo is very dark but shows a red to blue scale.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThis is one of my six primary color wheels. I had never painted one of these before.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAI did a bunch of color studies using different colors from magazines and catalogs.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThis is a combination of paint, photos printed from the computer and magazine photos.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAAnd here’s one in green.

MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERAThen I did all of my paint colors in tints and shades scales. I really enjoyed seeing the different combinations that occur. I am happy that I’m almost finished with the homework because I have yurt duties. Today we started felting the yurt walls. I will be posting about the process on Thursday on the Felting and Fiber Studio site.
