I have been doing a little stitching on the felt wildflower landscape piece. I added darker French knots after removing a bunch of the lighter ones.
Here’s a photo of the full piece. I am much happier with only a few of the light highlight French knots.
Here’s a closer look at the mix of colors of French knots now. I am finished with the lupines and will be moving on to the red flowers which represent Indian Paintbrush. I think I will be adding fly stitch to those. Then I need to decide if I should add green stitching for leaves. What do you think? Should I add stitched leaves for the lupines?
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Wow. they look so real.
Thanks Judy!
Much better. I think a few key leaves stitched would be a nice addition, but just a few.
Thanks Marilyn – I will have to decide where to put them. Perhaps more in the foreground.
That was exactly what I was thinking too, some lighter tones and more definition in the foreground. It’s definitely coming along, I’m loving the lupines, great colours and texture. Not sure what fly stitch is, so looking forward to seeing that too.
Thanks Teri – Here is a sample with fly stitch https://permutationsinfiber.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/pict6443.jpg?w=320&h=240
I agree about the foreground so I will be working on that.
Looking good Ruth. I agree, more detail in the foreground will give perspective. 🙂
Thanks Judith – that is the direction I will be taking for sure.
I agree – yes some leaves would be good but hard to tell which ones until you’ve done the red.
Thanks Lyn, I will be doing the red next and then wee what else it needs before tackling the leaves.
I was thinking similar to Lyn, but I like it how it is now too 🙂
Thanks Zed – it is always hard to decide when you’re done 🙂
