I haven’t had a lot of stitching time and most of it I spent “unstitching” recently.
This is a close up of the last time I showed you the lupines. I had used a lot of very pale lavender french knots. They were just too stark a contrast and there were too many light ones.
So I cut a bunch of them off. I also added some darker violet french knots and have more to go.
Here’s a closer view. There may be still too many light ones but once I get the darker ones on, I think it will be better. Too many highlights just didn’t look right. Hope you all have a Happy 4th of July if you celebrate that holiday. If not, have a great weekend!

It’s looking good Ruth, I suspect this is going to qualify for the “slow stitch movement” but so want to see how this turns out I will try to be patient! 🙂 We don’t really celebrate 4th July in the UK but working for an American company I really appreciate how quiet the email traffic gets 🙂

It can be soul destroying to unstitch – especially something fiddly like French knots – but I know the feeling when something niggles away and you know you’ll never be happy until you’ve reworked it. 🙂 Look forward to seeing the new version!

Unstitching is all part of getting where you want to go with a piece of embroidery – a necessary nuisance – but so worth it. I’m looking forward to seeing the work completed.
In built up areas of Norway, there are banks of lupins everywhere (mainly deep lilac, but some pink and a few white) – they were planted to help clear the air of traffic pollution.
