I printed this piece of felted wool blanket with thickened dye and cut pomegranates a long time ago. It was white at the time and I over dyed it at some point. I decided I wanted to start a hand stitching project as I haven’t done one for quite some time. It’s nice to have a project going that’s easy to pick up and stitch for a few minutes when I get time.
It is really hard to see in the photo of the entire piece, you can barely see the stitching I have done. It’s pretty subtle.
I am using tiny seed stitches to denote (of course) the seeds.
I am using wool thread that I hand dyed and I am thinking of making the piece into a notebook cover but I haven’t decided yet. Hope you have a good weekend!
Wow, they are tiny! You got a lot of nice colour variation π
Thanks Zed – It was funny how I found the perfect thread colors in my stash. That doesn’t usually happen.
It would make a pretty notebook cover – the delicate seed stitches show up well and enhance the felt.
Thanks Lyn! It does need to be something that is handled and seen up close. Otherwise, from a distance, you can’t even tell it is stitched.
This is beautiful Ruth. I think it can be quite exciting, having seen something at arms length, to then discover tiny detail up close.
Thanks Karen – I agree. I love the tiny details π
Lovely delicate subtle textures – I had to enlarge the image to see the stitching properly!
Thanks! it is definitely on the small side π
