Garden Inspiration Challenge

This is my garden inspired challenge. Needle felted on a commercial fabric backing, wool locks, silk hankies and specialty yarns. I am making it into a small quilted wall hanging. The flowers are made from silk hankies that were sprayed with spray starch and then shaped into flowers and ironed.

Brown Challenge

I am participating in the Needle Felting Challenge. I started with the latest challenge which is brown. This is a 4″ x 6″ postcard with a commercial fabric backing, llama, wool, silk and a variety of specialty yarns. The inspiration was a photo I took in the woods of a pile of broken pine cones.

Goddess Doll

This piece was done on the needle felting machine. I started with black wool roving and made two doll shapes (front and back), I then added the embellishments and needled both doll shapes hard. I then put the finished outsides facing together and needled around the shapes edge to “sew” the doll together. I turned the piece right sides out, stuffed her with wool and needled the end. I did have to do some patching by needling by hand because I hadn’t gotten the black edges thick enough originally. So my first 3D piece made on the felting machine!
