Busy, busy
I wish that meant I was busy doing fiber art but alas, no. I have been busy at work putting in all those new orders we placed in Philadelphia. And at home I’m getting ready to leave for my last stitch class tomorrow. But I had a few moments to sketch some poppy seed heads.
I will add more to this sketch later as I have time. I’m thinking of different angles of the poppy. I am not sure how the blogging will go for the next week as I will be at class and I don’t have much extra time. But I will try and pop in with a photo or two. I will definitely be getting my daily dose of fiber though.
Finished Sketch
I completed the sketch I had started on the plane trip. I like how it turned out and will try a few more on already painted backgrounds. I hadn’t tried that before. Of course, it helps if the background is lighter.
The inspirational photo is on the left. I took it on one of my trips to Washington state.
Here’s a little closer view. I used a black felt tip pen for the outline and Inktense pencils for the coloring.
Sketching on the Plane
I am working in my studio journal today. I brought along some photos for inspiration. The background was already painted with some left over dye. I have sketched the flowers and leaves in pencil. They are a little hard to see but I will be going over the lines again with black ink and then filling in more color with Inktense pencils.
You need to click on the photo to be able to see the sketched in lines on the right page. Hopefully, I can show you the finished page tomorrow.
More Traveling Kantha
We drove home to Richmond today and I stiched on the traveling Kantha piece. I did add a bit of satin stitch to make a more established focal point.
Here’s most of the piece so you can see how much I’ve stitched.
Here’s the satin stitch spiral. I only have a small amount of this thread left, it’s hand dyed wool. I think I need to add more of it to balance the spiral out somewhat. I will be stitching more on the way home perhaps.
